The 41003-5, manufactured by R. M. Young, is a naturally aspirated 10-plate radiation shield. Its louvered construction allows air to pass freely through the shield, keeping the probe at or near ambient temperature. The shield's white color reflects solar radiation.
Read MoreThe 41003-5 10-Plate Solar Radiation Shield typically houses the HC2S3 Temperature and RH probe; the hex plug required to mount the HC2S3 in the shield is shipped with the sensor.
The 41003-5 can also house a 43347, 107, 108, 109, or HMP60 probe. The HMP45C and several other retired sensors are also compatible. Refer to the Compatibility tab for the hardware required to mount the above sensors in the shield.
The 41003-5 includes a 2 in. U-bolt with a plastic v-block. The U-bolt is placed in the holes on the side of the bracket for attachment to a mast or vertical pole. The U-bolt is placed in the holes on the bottom of the bracket for attachment to a crossarm.
The 41003-5 10-plate Radiation Shield replaced the 41002 12-Plate Gill Radiation Shield in June of 2005. The biggest improvement of the 41003-5 is that it can be mounted to either a vertical pole or horizontal pipe. The retired 41002 only mounted to a vertical pole. |
